Fleet Maintenance Facility & Materials Management Facility

Project: Fleet Maintenance Facility & Materials Management Facility
Location: Gainesville, Florida
Owner: City of Gainesville
Construction Cost: $11.4 Million
Project Size: 26,272 SF
Completion: October 2013In an effort to consolidate operations and replace aging facilities, the City of Gainesville elected to build a central fleet maintenance and materials management facility.  The new 23-bay garage allows for the City’s entire fleet of vehicles and equipment, from riding lawn mowers to the largest engines in Gainesville Fire Rescue’s fleet, to be serviced in one location.

The 44,000 square foot facility features both light and heavy duty bays separated by a central administration area that also is home to the parts department.  In addition to the garage, a portion of the 72-acre site was improved for use as a materials storage yard for the City’s Public Works Department.  The yard features over 1,000 linear feet of 4’-0” tall cast-in-place concrete walls which form bins to house the various materials (gravel, sand, mulch, etc.) used by Public Works.
